I would like to start this interesting blog in order to help Americans who live or visit Alexandria, Egypt.
The only purpose for this blog to share experience and provide recommendations to Americans in Alexandria.
Alexandria is a lovely city to live or visit. It is a quite big city where 5 millions live. Not every one will adapt to live here or like to live here. However, there are couple of thousands American citizens who lives here. Some of them are dual citizens and some are not. I will keep post in this blog different issues mainly, social interests.
Alexandria has developed in different ways in the last couple of decades. Good Neighborhood has been changed also, A quite small are has become a congested crowded noisy neighborhood.
As every city in the world, Alexandria has dangerous neighborhood to live in. but the majority of the city is safe.
Living in Alexandria is affordable, Rent and food prices are far better than Cairo. Please try to avoid the outskirts. Where safety requires extra cautions. There are some news about home break in in such areas. However, Alexandria consider much safer than other States in Egypt.
Once you get your residency permit, it is highly recommended to open a bank account to keep your money safe, there many banks in Alexandria where employees are able to speak English fluently. I will add more posts about these services in the near future.
Once you settle in Alexandria, You need to know more about medical services provided and what are the reliable medical institutions and providers who located close to your home. We also will provide a separate post focusing such area.
Schools are very hard to choose from to enroll your kids in. There are different levels of primary and secondary education.
